How Does it Work? / Pediatric Neurologist Treatment Process
Our specialists at Butterfly Learnings Center will use the following stepwise procedure to provide pediatric neurologist services to your child:
Initial Consultation and Evaluation
During your child’s initial consultation appointment, the pediatric neurologist or developmental pediatrician will assess your child properly.
Our doctor will be discussing the child’s problems and symptoms with the parents, teachers, and pediatrician of the child to understand the child’s problems better.
Diagnostic Testing
Following the physical examination of your child and the assessment of the child’s symptoms and medical history, the pediatric neurologist may recommend undergoing a few diagnostic tests to get an accurate diagnosis of the child’s condition. The various diagnostic tests recommended may include the following:
- Neuroimaging: Certain imaging tests like computed tomography / CT scans and magnetic resonance imaging / MRI scans can help the doctor get a good view of the brain’s structure, as well as detect abnormalities such as brain tumors, stroke, some genetic disorders, infections, and multiple sclerosis.
- Electroencephalography / EEG: This test helps in recording the electrical activity of the brain and diagnose conditions like epilepsy.
- Lumbar Puncture (Spinal Tap): The doctor will insert a small needle in the lower back area of the child to remove a sample of the spinal fluid, which is the fluid surrounding the brain and the spinal cord. This fluid will then be checked for any signs of infection that may be present.
- Blood Tests: They help in detecting any underlying infections or changes in the body’s electrolyte levels.
- Genetic Testing: This is a blood test that helps identify specific genetic mutations that could be responsible for different types of neurological disorders.
- Neuropsychological Testing: The child’s behavior, academic performance, and cognitive function are assessed to obtain more details about the neurodevelopmental disorder present.
- Nerve Conduction Studies and Electromyography (EMG): The child’s nerve and muscle function are checked using these tests. The tests help in the diagnosis of neuromuscular disorders and nerve injuries.
Personalized Care and Treatment Plan
Based on your child’s assessment and test results, we will be providing a personalized treatment plan and guidelines for your child.
The treatment plan will specify the types of therapies the child will be needing, including pediatric neurologist treatment, and the approximate duration of each therapy.
Starting With the Treatment
We will then start your child’s therapy at Butterfly Learnings according to the treatment plan prepared for the child.
Our pediatric neurologists will work with other therapists and specialists to help manage your child’s neurological disorder.
Regular Monitoring and Modifications
Our therapists will regularly monitor the child’s response to therapy and improvement in the child’s condition. Based on these factors, we will make periodic changes in your child’s treatment plan.
We will share your child’s progress and modified treatment plan with the parents through our dedicated app.
