What is NIOS?

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) was formerly known as the National Open School. It was established in the year 1989 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Government of India and is recognized as an independent National Level Education Board in India.
The primary aim of the NIOS board is to deliver primary and secondary educational training alongside life skills and vocational education to a diverse group of students, including differently-abled or special needs students.
The Human Resource Development Department of the Government of India recognizes the courses offered by the NIOS system and considers them to be equivalent to the courses provided by other recognized state-level or national-level educational boards, such as ICSE and CBSE.
The Butterfly Learnings NIOS study center in Ghansoli enables students to pursue their education at their own pace and according to their own timetable while teaching vital life skills such as hands-on skills, vocational training, and academic knowledge.
